MISA Cool Rooms for Chill


As a provider of cold storage and transport solutions for some of Australia’s leading companies and brands, Chill make it part of their business to keep abreast of the latest in refrigeration technologies.

Working with SKOPE, market leaders in commercial refrigeration solutions, Chill has recently installed three large industrial cold storage rooms (two chillers and one freezer) from the Italian MISA product range at their Sydney storage facility.

SKOPE is Australia’s sole distributer of MISA cool and freezer rooms, which are made using a high-density MS patented polyurethane panel system. The state-of-the-art panel system uses self-extinguishing foam, holds no moisture, is HFC and CFC free and is environmentally friendly.

The use of polyurethane panels in place of polystyrene was a key influence in Chill choosing MISA. It is the company’s firm belief that the Australian market should be moving towards a faster uptake of polyurethane products, and away from polystyrene.

When sourcing cold storage solutions, Chill looked for products that were energy efficient and whose panels would have minimal environmental impact. It was imperative that their investment was in high quality products that would stand up to the tests of time and provide simple yet smart solutions.

Extensive research led Chill to have a firm belief that polyurethanes play a crucial role in preserving the natural resources of our planet. As an added advantage, durable polyurethane coatings ensure that the lifetime of many products are extended well beyond what would have been achieved without the coating.

Chill stores and transports products for businesses from a diverse range of sectors. The expanding company is popular with big brand businesses requiring logistical solutions when taking their promotional campaigns to the wider market. Quality is paramount, with a great deal of attention and focus being placed on the varying types of products being stored, handled and delivered, from pharmaceuticals to confectionary, other food products, and beer and wine.

ChillThe MISA cool and freezer rooms have increased capacity for Chill on a grand scale, providing around 2,500m3 storage space. The multiple combination MISA rooms can be designed and installed to suit any modular requirement and are quick to assemble.

Prior to their installation, the company had limited internal capacity and relied on external partners to provide their bulk storage. Installing the cool and freezer rooms at their new warehouse in Sydney has been part of one their biggest investment decisions to date, and Andrew and Lauren Wade are thrilled with the results and high quality facilities they can now offer their customers.

With this summer bringing the hottest days ever recorded in Sydney in January, Chill is delighted to report that the MISA rooms have lived up to expectations, with temperatures remaining stable at all times. Staff love working out of the new rooms, particularly on days when the outside temperature has been around 45 degrees Celsius. A company that focuses on quality driven outcomes, Chill has been given added confidence when working with SKOPE, who approach projects in the same manner. The SKOPE team ensured Chills’ expectations were exceeded in terms of the choice of components and commend SKOPE for their professional approach and high levels of understanding of their individual requirements.

As Chill continue to expand their business across Australia, the company plans to work with SKOPE to install MISA solutions in their Queensland and Western Australia facilities and are partnering with SKOPE to supply and install a number of smaller, modular cool rooms.

New Look, New Features

PG500The new look Pegasus 2/1 series upgrade means it has the same aesthetic look (standard across integral and remote cabinets) and uses the same power saving technologies as the Pegasus 1/1 series, creating a clean line of refrigeration that maximizes valuable kitchen space with improved energy efficiency.

The Pegasus 2/1 Series includes chillers, freezers, preparation and pizza cabinets and utilises the front breathing system of the Pegasus 1/1 series enabling the cabinet to be built flush against back and side walls.

Additional upgrade features include:

  • Chillers and freezers are now rated to 43°C ambient, making them ideal for use in high ambient temperatures and hot kitchen environments
  • Pizza and preparation cabinets are rated from +1°C to +5°C for up to 4 hours in up to 30°C ambient with lids off

  • Improved energy efficiency

  • Drawers are now available as a standard option on Pegasus 2/1 preparation cabinets

  • Optional flush fitting foamed lids available for Pegasus 2/1 pizza and preparation cabinets

  • Removable air flow duct for easy cleaning

  • Pizza and preparation cabinets now use R134a refrigerant (CFC & HCFC free)

The SKOPE Classic

SKOPE-ClassicThe SKOPE Classic is New Zealand’s largest and most popular motor event of its kind with more than 250 vintage, classic and historic cars, and their drivers taking part. Now in our eleventh year of sponsorship, SKOPE is proud to support a prestigious, local event with more than two decades of history.

The 22nd annual SKOPE Classic was held at Powerbuilt Tools Ruapuna Raceway in Christchurch on the first weekend of February, and this year’s action packed programme included the Formula 5000’s, and a celebration of the V8 engine’s role in motorsport over the years in single seater and saloon car racing.

The SKOPE team including SKOPE founder Robert Stewart, Managing Director Guy Stewart and other members of the extended Stewart family all raced extremely well over the weekend. Guy Stewart managed to keep invited guests and spectators on the edge of their seats with his racing and pleased the crowd, winning a couple of races including the reverse grid handicap race, when he started a full 60 seconds after the first car.

SKOPE-Classic2With record crowd numbers and a huge turnout at the SKOPE marquee, the SKOPE Classic was a resounding success. This year, invited guests included those involved with the Healthcare, Mining and Bakery industries, including: ACT Stainless Steel, Arcus, Early Rise Baking, Foodservice Consultants Australia, Hakataya Noodles, Hospitality Total Services, Markforce, Procook, Rio Tinto, Wildfire and Zarraffa’s Coffee.

In addition to touring the SKOPE factory, guests also visited the Tuahiwi Marae, enjoying a traditional hangi and watching a kapa haka dance performance before learning how to the haka themselves. The Mini Olympics competition (archery, claybird shooting, driving range competition) held at the luxury golf resort Terrace Downs just out of Christchurch was just as popular, before they spent Sunday at the SKOPE Classic car racing event.

CCA's Interactive Fridge

CCACoca-Cola Amatil (CCA) has recently launched a new interactive drinks fridge into four on and off-premise outlets in New South Wales and Victoria. Depending on the time of the day, it offers customers special deals on food and beverage and is a huge leap forward in interactive advertising* at the point-of-purchase. Another seventeen outlets in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland are soon to receive fridges, with South Australia to follow.

Welcome Dimos
